“Salento d'amare – memorial Leopizzi”, presented program of the Half marathon
The program of the Regional Half Marathon Championship has been presented. Thousands of athletes from all over Puglia are expected in Parabita on 26 February.
The Apulian regional half marathon championship returns to Salento. It will be Parabita, with the 18th edition of the “Salento d'Amare – IV memorial Pippi Leopizzi” circuit, on Sunday 26 February, who will decree the absolute champion of Puglia over the distance of 21.097 km.
The Maratonina Salento d'Amare 2017 also renews every social and cultural commitment that has brought it to the top quality of the Puglia competitions. The parallel path of "Running and Walking to Rosa" (Salento's hematological oncological network) has been confirmed, a non-competitive brisk walk whose proceeds will be entirely donated to the Angela Serra association for cancer research. The race, then, will be dedicated for the fourth consecutive year to the memory of Pippi Leopizzi, to which is added a moving memory of Antonio Orsini, a Parabitan runner who recently passed away due to illness during a training session. At the end of the competition, in his honour, the group of scientific medical informants of Lecce and its province will donate a defibrillator device to the association and to the city of Parabita. The sporting event, sponsored by the Puglia Region and the Municipalities of Parabita, Alezio, Sannicola and Tuglie, is open to the Fidal Juniores, Amateurs, Promises, Masters and Seniors categories. Registration by February 22nd.
