Dla Piper wins for Pizeta Pharma in a corruption case
From Piper he witnessed victoriously Maurice Zampetti – allora presidente del consiglio di amministrazione di Pizeta Pharma – nel procedimento penale ai suoi danni, avviato con l’accusa di corruzione.
The Gup of the Court of Larino issued a sentence against Maurizio Zampetti of no place to proceed for not having committed the crime, and against a scientific informant of the company a sentence of no place to proceed because the fact does not constitute a crime.
Il procedimento penale nasceva da un’indagine condotta da parte dei Nas e coordinata dalla Procura di Larino che, all’esito degli approfondimenti investigativi, aveva ipotizzato il reato di corruzione, che si sarebbe concretizzato nel coinvolgimento improprio di un medico in studi clinici avviati dall’azienda in cambio di viaggi all’estero.
On the contrary, accepting the arguments of the defense which documented the correctness of the clinical studies and the promotional activity of the company, the Gup fully rejected the argument of the Public Prosecutor's Office which had requested the indictment of two doctors as well as the exponents of Pizeta Pharma (whose positions which also concern other charges relating to events unrelated to Pizeta Pharma, however, will be defined with abbreviated judgment).
