ISTAT. Production of pharmaceutical products: +6.0% in June

In June 2019, the seasonally adjusted industrial production index is estimated to decrease by 0.2% compared to May. On average in the second quarter, the seasonally adjusted level of production decreased by 0.7% compared to the previous quarter.

The seasonally adjusted monthly index shows a cyclical increase only for energy (+2.4%); instead, decreases were recorded for consumer goods (-0.7%), intermediate goods (-0.6%) and, to a lesser extent, for capital goods (-0.1%).

Corrected for calendar effects, in June 2019 the overall index decreased in trend terms by 1.2% (there were 20 working days, against 21 in June 2018).

In June 2019, the indices corrected for calendar effects recorded a marked growth trend exclusively for energy (+3.4%); on the contrary, decreases characterized intermediate goods (-2.8%) and, to a lesser extent, capital goods (-1.7%) and consumer goods (-0.1%).

The sectors of economic activity they register the highest trend growth is the production of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (+6.0%), the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air (+5.3%) and other industries (+4.6%). The largest declines were recorded in the manufacture of means of transport (-7.6%), in the textile, clothing, leather and accessories industries (-7.1%) and in mining (-5.6%).
