ISTAT. Industrial production of pharmaceuticals in July 2021: +3.6%

In July 2021, the seasonally adjusted industrial production index is estimated to increase by 0.8% relative to June. On average for the May-July period, the level of production grew by 0.6% compared to the previous three months.

The seasonally adjusted monthly index shows a marked cyclical increase for capital goods (+1.9%) and intermediate goods (+1.4%), slightly more contained for consumer goods (+0.9%); instead, it decreased in the energy sector (-1.5%).

Adjusted for calendar effects, in July 2021 the overall index increased in trend terms by 7.0% (calendar working days were 22 against 23 in July 2020). Intermediate goods grew to a particularly marked extent (+11.9%) and to a lesser extent capital goods (+7.0%) and consumer goods (+5.1%). Energy recorded a slight decrease (-0.6%).

All the main sectors of economic activity show increases on a year-on-year basis, with the exception of extractive activities. The largest increases relate to the manufacture of electrical equipment (+12.5%), metallurgy and the manufacture of metal products (+11.9%) and the manufacture of rubber and plastic material items (+9.8%).
