Unlocking layoffs won't affect Teva crisis. For the unions, the silence of the Ministry remains unacceptable, which has not yet set a date to address the dispute
The Israeli pharmaceutical company has announced the closure of it last April. 360 workers are involved: all families from the Upper Milan area. Of greater concern is the fact that a March the same script was repeated for the Bulciago garrison. In these three months, between protests and meetings with workers, the trade unionists have met twice with the representatives of Assolombarda and they brought the dispute to the Lombardy Region.
To date, the company, which was in negotiation to co-produce vaccines, has never retraced its steps. The closure is set for July 2022, but there would be the possibility of a six-month extension. While two companies have presented their interest for the purchase of the garrison, but as Restieri explained to us "there is still nothing concrete". Teva is ready to start the extraordinary layoffs and to keep the site «in optimal conditions for a future sale».
The situation, with each passing day, is becoming more and more tense; during the last protest the workers also blocked the Sempione: «We are asking the Ministry for a date in order to be able to define an agreement as soon as possible. We can't keep waiting."
