Among the medicinal products found, there were also products of significant value intended for the therapeutic treatment of oncological and neurodegenerative pathologies
An unscrupulous criminal group, which made money at the expense of the health of the sick by marketing now unusable and dangerous drugs, was defeated by the Yellow Flames of the Provincial Commands of Rome and Naples.
Eight people, all of Campania origin, including a woman in charge of collecting the proceeds, were arrested at dawn today by the soldiers of the Fiumicino Group and the Naples Tax Police Unit, in execution of an order precautionary custody issued by the GIP of the Court of North Naples. The association, operating in the provinces of Naples, Caserta and Salerno as well as in the north-west of Italy, was specialized in receiving large quantities of drugs deriving from thefts committed throughout the national territory which were then marketed in the official sales circuits.
The investigations - which began in June 2014 after a seizure of drugs by the Yellow Flames of the Provincial Command of Rome inside a warehouse located in Arzano, in the province of Naples and the simultaneous arrest of a pharmacist in the province of Salerno, all now subjected to a precautionary measure – were also conducted with the help of telephone and environmental interceptions.
During the operation, within various warehouses located in Arzano, Casoria and Naples, over 53,000 packs of medicines - also from hospitals - of various kinds and types were seized for a value, on the market, of approximately 1,800 .000 euros. Among the medicinal products found, there were also products of significant value intended for the therapeutic treatment of oncological and neurodegenerative pathologies and which require particular methods of conservation, including maintenance at a controlled temperature, prescriptions obviously not observed by the members of the organisation.
The investigative activities highlighted the structure of the group and the roles covered by the participants, who will now have to answer for the crimes of criminal association, receiving stolen goods and possession of drugs.
In addition to the execution of personal precautionary measures, all the homes and other premises used by the suspects were subjected to searches, two logistics companies and two pharmacies, one located in the center of Naples and the other in the province of Salerno.
