Coronavirus: "The vaccine also for operators of pharmaceutical companies"
The Unione Industriale Pisana relaunches the request of Confindustria for the Tuscany Region
Include operators of pharmaceutical companies in the priority categories for the Covid vaccine. It is the instance that the Unione Industriale Pisana, following the line traced by Confindustria Toscana, is also promoting in the Region. The Pisan entrepreneurs ask the president Eugenio Giani and the regional councilor for health Simone Bezzini to take into consideration the proposals received in recent days from the representatives of the regional industrial world. “The narrow and daily contact with doctors, within public and private healthcare structures, and also the work carried out within companies and in laboratories, would require that sector operators be included in the categories potentially at risk, as has happened, in recent weeks, also for professionals from other productive and intellectual categories” claims the association. Luigi Duca, manager of Guidotti Laboratories and president of the Pharmaceutical Group of the Pisan Industrial Union, comments: “We hope that the Tuscany Region will take into consideration the voice of industrialists in the sector who have for some time been the spokesperson for the requests raised by the workers within the companies. In this year, in full compliance with worker safety protocols, our sector has not never stopped its production activity, being considered a strategic sector of primary importance. Also for this reason we believe that including the workers of our companies in the categories to be protected through the vaccine is a measure that the Tuscany Region should undertake". Just a few days ago, the Pisan Industrial Union, in the wake of the requests promoted by Confindustria Nazionale and regional, had made public the availability of local entrepreneurs ad also adhere to a memorandum of understanding with the Tuscany Region for the vaccination of employees and their families within the companies themselves. As far as the pharmaceutical sector is concerned, there are several entrepreneurs who are also asking to open vaccination to medical-scientific informants. Among these Roberto Lacorte, CEO of PharmaNutra and member of the Health Commission of Confindustria Toscana, who explains: “We do not understand the priority criteria applied by the Tuscany Region. Pharmaceutical companies, due to their connotation, are those primarily in contact with hospitals, doctors and clinics. As pharmaceutical industrialists, we wonder why in some regions ours scientific informants have been vaccinated and instead in Tuscany this hasn't happened. This measure could instead make the working environment within companies even safer and allow scientific informants to be able to carry out their work outside the companies with even greater serenity and safety”.
A few days ago, UIP proposed to the Tuscany Region, through President Patrizia Alma Pacini, to allow those who inevitably have to move for work to be able to do so in safety thanks to the vaccine. The industrialists ask for a "careful assessment of those activities that are absolutely not 'remote-able' and which therefore should have priority in vaccinations also due to the positive impact they bring on the survival of companies".
