Tumors: 'cancer director' discovered
(ANSA) -ROME, AUGUST 16- Rheb is the name of the 'cancer director' gene discovered in the USA by 2 research groups, one of which is led by the Italian Pier Paolo Pandolfi. Rheb is an oncogene, ie a gene responsible for controlling cell growth which, if altered, transforms a healthy cell into a tumor cell. Consequently, it could become a new target for future anticancer drugs. Both studies are published in the G&D journal.
