The meeting, convened for yesterday, of the permanent table for the relaunch of the pharmaceutical sector, set up by the Ministry of Economic Development, in which Farmindustria and trade unions participate, has been cancelled. Today's meeting has been postponed to a date to be defined - the ministry reports - pending the internal reorganization and the appointment of new general managers, expected within ten days. The roundtable, established on 18 November last year, was created with the aim of analyzing the crisis in the pharmaceutical sector, from an economic point of view and with particular attention to the impact on employment, in order to develop ad hoc policies capable of relaunching the sector. In 2008 alone there were around 2,500 job cuts, and estimates speak of another 5,000 in 2009.
