THEThe pharmaceutical giant Roche will cut slightly fewer jobs than expected in Basel: instead of 190 jobs, as announced in September, 168 will be cut.
After the September announcement, the consultation process began and a social plan was defined, a group spokeswoman told the ATS today. The results of the negotiations were approved by all parties involved.
However, the Unia union defines itself as unhappy, according to which the social plan has been clearly worsened compared to the current practice, reads a statement.
The pharmaceutical company did not provide details, merely saying that the "generous early retirement opportunities" were not fully possible due to the ongoing restructuring.
It is not yet clear how many the actual layoffs will be. Either way, the group will help affected employees find new employment.
