The US super top managers were certainly not enthusiastic when, last week, they received requests by fax from the SEC, the US stock exchange authority, for more information on their super salaries. Among the recipients were also Pfizer, Schering-Plough, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Coca-Cola, General Electric. In all, as the online edition of the Wall Street Journal writes, 300 companies are called upon to provide more information on remuneration methods and criteria for senior executives. And the requests could spark a tussle with the companies, as they concern information such as targets and benchmarks that they deem competitive and would prefer to keep confidential.
