Iolanda Nanni, regional councilor of the M5S in Lombardy, is asking for it to avert the closure of the Pavia site of Msd (Merck Sharp & Dohme) by the end of 2014. A decision that puts at risk the jobs of 270 workers, in addition to those of the 'induced.
"The Government has the authority and the possibility to request the revocation of the decision - said Nanni, intervening on the case at the Pavia City Council - but it must put all the options on the table in a strong and authoritative way: from the sale of the plant to subjects private individuals, maintaining the current employment and production levels, through an agreement that allows the production of the drug Januvia on site and distribution through Merck's international commercial network, up to the nationalization of the plant, resorting, let's make a hypothesis, to the Cassa Depositi e loans".
Nanni has also presented a motion of which she is the first signatory, in which she asks the Lombardy regional council to immediately activate a negotiating table between the parties.
