ROME - A real 'mini-reform' of Health is on the way: it is the one outlined in the omnibus decree, renamed the 'decretone', on which the Minister of Health, Renato Balduzzi, is working, and which should arrive in the Council of Ministers by August. Many innovations that should be contained in the decree which, after the cuts in the provision on Spending review, aims to relaunch the system and improve its efficiency. From the new rules on the professional liability of doctors to those that define the free activity of white coats, from the new organization of primary care - with networks of studies in the area to guarantee 24-hour services - to interventions on drugs, as well as some rules which, if confirmed , will have a definite impact on citizens' lives such as the green light for single-dose medicines to avoid waste and fines for the sale of cigarettes to minors under the age of 18. The decree could also provide for the obligation to establish the electronic health record in all Regions.
