Hospitals The private investigation
«Accreditation of bed places? The general director said to follow Tomassini"
The corruption mechanism is always the same. The new cyclone that hit the Pirellone health system yesterday still revolves around the figure of lobbyists: to unblock the arrival of public money, a hospital must pay someone to open the doors of the Region to it.
It looks like the film already seen during the San Raffaele scandal and that of the Maugeri Foundation. But this time at the center of the latest judicial investigation is the "La Quiete" nursing home in Varese and the accusation of intermediary falls on Senator Antonio Tomassini, under investigation for corruption together with the supermanager of the Health Department, Carlo Lucchina.
How the smoke turns, the entrepreneurs Sandro and Antonello Polita, owners of the clinic between 2007 and 2011, tell us: «Dr. Carlo Lucchina (general manager of the Department of Health, ed.) told us that accreditations on bed places were blocked, but "that something could have been found between the folds of the law". Lucchina also specified "you follow Senator Tomassini (Antonio, ed), I'll take care of the rest"».
The reconstruction emerges from the confession-outburst of the Polita brothers collected by prosecutor Alfredo Robledo between June and September 2012, then sent to the Varese Public Prosecutor's Office for competence. These are all allegations that will need to be confirmed by judicial investigations. But as of now the similarities with San Raffaele and Maugeri are incredible.
In both cases the fixer - according to the documents of the Milanese investigation - was Piero Daccò, in business with Antonio Simone, both longtime friends of the governor Roberto Formigoni. Daccò's role as "opener" in the Region was essential to obtain rivers of money.
Thus the alleged exchange of public money and private favors (free holidays and million-dollar benefits, such as dinners and yachts) was the basis of Formigoni's entry in the register of suspects for corruption.
