Federfarma, representing private pharmacies, and Assofarm, for public ones, are asking for a correction to the advertising message promoted by the Prime Minister and the Ministry for Economic Development, published in newspapers and broadcast on the radio, to publicize the changes following the liberalization law. Illustrating the possibility of buying medicines without a prescription even in establishments other than pharmacies, provided for by the Bersani decree - the two associations report - the text of the advertisement reads: "Over-the-counter medicines and those not subject to a medical prescription can be purchased not only in pharmacies, but also in specialized shops and supermarkets at discounted prices". For Federfarma and Assofarm, this sentence risks making citizens believe that non-prescription drugs are sold at discounted prices only in specialized shops and supermarkets. In reality, as publicly recognized by Minister Bersani himself a few days ago - they underline - pharmacies offer discounts to varying degrees on non-prescription medicines. Furthermore, pharmacies also save citizens by delivering them equivalent medicines, with the same active ingredient but in some cases at a lower price than 60% compared to the designer specialty. Federfarma and Assofarm hope that "the Government will want to modify the commercial, so that citizens are correctly informed, with clear and transparent communication, on the possibility of saving by buying medicines without a prescription both in pharmacies and in other establishments".
