From 512,000 euros in 2013, it rose to over 6 million forfeited in 2014. In Italy, "Sovaldi" is accessible to a limited number of patients, about 30,000 out of a population of healthy carriers estimated at around one and a half million. But still in Italy, distribution is slow, while in San Marino it has been available for purchase since it received the go-ahead in America.

Leading the ranking are new medicines for the treatment of Hepatitis C which are struggling to be available in Italy due to high costs / The ISS multiplies the receipts by 6 thanks to the drugs sold to Italians / From 512,000 euros in 2013 we have moved on to over 6 million forfeited in 2014
The cure for hepatitis C? Italians buy it in San Marino. The drug is called "Sovaldi" and is a new medicine against hepatitis C approved in 2013 in the United States, where it boasts a certification of efficacy of over 90% of healings. In Italy, the approval of the patent arrived in 2014 and the National Health Service reached an agreement with the company that produces it - Gilead - which resulted in a cost of 600 euros for each single tablet and therefore of an expense between 40 and 60 thousand euros for the entire therapy. "Sovaldi" is therefore a very expensive drug, so much so that the National Health Service has established that a limited number of patients can access it, about 30 thousand out of a population of healthy carriers estimated at around one and a half million. But still in Italy, distribution is slow, while in San Marino it has been purchasable since it got the go-ahead in America.
