Roche Farma Spain has announced that it has launched a collective redundancy procedure which could involve, as stated in the press release issued, around 100 employees. The operation is the result “of the changes and the impact of control measures on pharmaceutical expenditure for innovative medicines,” Roche sources say.
The company confirmed that it will shortly start negotiations with union representatives and will propose different ways to "minimize the impact and will define the conditions for relocation or for new working conditions". In any case, we know that the commercial and support areas will be the most affected, leaving the production process workers of the Leganés factory and Roche's global Computing Center of Excellence, which is located in Madrid [Roche Holding].
According to the CEO of the Spanish subsidiary, Andreas Abt, prior to making this decision had launched several initiatives to maintain the efficiency of the company, including preserving the R&D investment in the country.
