The Emilia-Romagna Region should "preclude, with a specific provision, the performance of the activity of scientific representatives in affiliated medical practices during patient visiting hours", thus complying with "the guidelines approved by the Conference of Regions on 13 January 2005". This, since "the practice of some general practitioners" is "to make visiting hours coincide with those of reception of scientific representatives" causing "significant inconvenience to patients, forced to wait for several hours".
The case was raised by the councilor Marco Lombardi (PDL) in a question to the council in which he underlined how "almost all the Italian regions have specific regulations", while to date in Emilia-Romagna "there are no binding indications on the matter for doctors, neither from the Local Health Authorities nor from the Region".
