after many months of waiting we are finally able to present you the new site.
Before moving on to the report, I would like to thank Angelo and all the colleagues of the National Executive for the assignment received and, above all, for literally giving me carte blanche for the design and creation of the site which was created with the aim of relaunching our Association and to certainly represent our most important calling card.
Initially the work concerned the analysis of our old site to identify the aspects that could be improved, subsequently the attention was turned to identifying the expectations of colleagues, but also of doctors, with respect to a new sector portal. We have read the surveys carried out on the habits of surfers with medical or health interests and, again, we have compared the scientific updating services offered by the network, evaluating the best technical solutions for building the site without ever neglecting the smallest detail.
I won't dwell on these technical aspects which are largely described in the site presentation guide that was delivered to you.
Instead, I would like to offer you two surveys that have contributed to the choice of the site's contents; the first was reported in the magazine Tempo Medico of 23 September 2004 which reveals to us how every day, in the world, more than twelve million searches are conducted on the internet on health issues and that many of these surfers, who are health professionals, surf more and more often, so that the offer of specialist sites is constantly expanding. The survey also reveals that the most sought-after medical-scientific information is that which evaluates the message from the point of view of relevance.
Another survey, which demonstrates not only the success that medical information on the web is having, but also the scientific profile that such information must contain to meet the needs of web users, is the Censis study of 24 August 2005 ( Emilia-Romagna Region - Official Bulletin of the Region).
This survey examined 190 of the main health websites, divided into four categories (generalist, institutional, pharmaceutical, and patient associations) with the aim of carrying out an analysis of the offer available to users.
With regard to content, the 76% offers up-to-date information on health issues.
An analysis was also carried out of the key themes highlighted on the home pages, from which it emerges that: the highest percentage of references is for research and congresses (64%), for specific pathologies (43%), for medical or patient associations (42%); there are also direct references to regulations, both specific in terms of health (32,6%), and in terms of the right to health and the rights of the patient (13,7%); we talk about drugs (28.4%), and prevention (25.8%), as well as issues related to well-being in the modern sense; nutrition and diet (21%); sport and fitness (12%), environment (10%). Last is medical malpractice, with a very low percentage of referrals (2%).
On average, among all the sites analysed: "the reliability of the information"
