If flu were treated with generic/equivalent medicines instead of branded ones, Italians would save between 23 and 33 million euros a year. These are the data according to a research conducted by Ratiopharm: the savings for each patient would exceed 6.60 euros (41 euros instead of 34 and something) and would be multiplied by the 3.5 – 5 million who are estimated to fall ill this year. The forecast study was elaborated by the Ratiopharm study center (one of the most important international companies for the production of generic drugs), comparing a kit of 5 designer products, among those most used to combat seasonal ailments, with a analogous group of generic drugs that would contain the same active ingredients as the most famous branded drugs.
