Hospitals create huge holes in the health budget and the regions take away services from us or increase co-payments.
Let's talk about pharmaceutical spending.
The most precise data are those relating to 2010. In this year, out of a national health fund of 105,003,289,999 euros, hospital pharmaceutical expenditure was 5,345,901,200, equal, i.e. 5.1 %
In Calabria, on a health fund of 3,478,050,732 euros, hospital pharmaceutical expenditure was 195,837,782, equal to 5.6%
Basically, against a forecast of 2,500,000,000 euros, 5,100,000,000 have been spent, with a deficit of 2,600,000,000 euros
In Calabria there is a forecast of maximum expenditure of 83,473,217 euros if 195,837,782 have been spent with a deficit of 112,364,565 euros.
And in 2011 there seems to have been an increase in 8%
Some initial questions, then.
What causes this overspending?
From a redundant number of hospitals?
