Once upon a time there were many followers of the New German Medicine (NMG), now repentant. Or at least officially. Of all the associations that on the web profess the effectiveness of NMG, an alternative medicine according to which diseases are the consequence of a psychic conflict and cannot be treated with drugs, the vast majority today distance themselves. Especially after the death of 18-year-old Eleonora Bottaro, due to leukemia for which there are real and effective therapies, which can lead to remission. Eleonora and her parents have decided to refuse the treatments prescribed by doctors and rely on NMG, theorized by the former German doctor Rike Geerd Hamer.

The «Hamer method» is based on 5 main affirmations, defined as «laws of biology»: every disease is caused by a conflict; if there is conflict resolution, each disease proceeds in two phases, one with active conflict and one with healing; there is a correlation between psyche, brain and diseased organ from an evolutionary point of view; microbes play a role in evolution and are related to the three embryonic layers from which organs originate; each disease must be understood as a "special biological program of nature", created to resolve an unexpected biological conflict. For him, therefore, every disease is caused by a conflict of a psychic type, and the healing of any disease passes through the resolution of that conflict. "From a scientific point of view, Hamer's laws of biology - reads the Airc website - are nothing more than inventions, in contrast to what is known and demonstrated about human physiology".
