Milan, 15 March 2015 – “Kits and trust need to enter the owner's regional health card so that they can have concessions and discounts regarding veterinary visits with affiliated veterinarians, but above all access to the new public veterinary system which, according to the intentions of the project we presented in the Lombardy region, would also allow discounts and exemptions on generic veterinary drugs ". Thus Lorenzo Croce, national president of Aidaa (Italian association for the defense of animals and the environment), presenting the Lombard public veterinary project filed yesterday and which will be discussed on Monday in the Health Commission of the Lombardy regional council during the hearings on the new regional health legislation.
Aidaa's proposal is based on some innovative criteria and focuses on four qualifying points: introduction of the public veterinary system with lowering of VAT from the current 22 to 4% for veterinary services; free sterilizations for cats and dogs, even those owned; introduction of a ticket system for visits to public veterinary emergency departments and a tax exemption and deductibility system for simple and complex veterinary services and for the purchase of generic veterinary drugs; introduction of pets on the owner's health card to be entitled to payments. In the same session, the president of Aidaa will present to the regional commission the proposal for the burial of pets in family tombs, a proposal already implemented in recent days in Tuscany for the free access of pets to hospitals and rest homes.
