The price of drugs can significantly affect the family budget, but there is a way to save money, choose the generic drugs (or equivalent). Starting from April 15th 2011 the choice of the generic drug will be even more convenient. The Italian Medicines Agency (Aifa) has established that, in implementation of the 2010 summer maneuver to rebalance the prices of generic drugs to European ones and to encourage their consumption, generic drugs will suffer a decrease in price which in some cases could even at 40 percent.
Even if late compared to the other countries of the European community, more and more Italians decide to buy i equivalent drugs, thanks also to the information campaigns which have become increasingly frequent in recent years. Equivalent drugs, formerly known as generics, are identical to branded drugs, the only difference is that since the patent has expired, the same drug can be redistributed under a different name (usually with the name of the active ingredient) at a decidedly higher price. Bass. We will soon make available to readers a list of generic generic drugs that can be purchased in Italian pharmacies.
The new discounts on drug prices will affect 4,188 products, a cut that according to estimates could save the state as much as 830 million euros a year. The introduction of equivalent drugs on the market over time has also led to a further benefit, many pharmaceutical companies have also lowered the price of branded drugs.
Sergio Dompè, president of Farmindustria, however, highlights a general discontent among pharmaceutical lawsuits. Dompè explains that in the health sector over the last 10 years, pharmaceutical expenditure has steadily decreased, while in other health sectors there has been an increase which in some cases has even reached 60 percent. In the light of these data, pharmaceutical companies do not exclude the possibility of moving the production of medicines elsewhere, even of the hi-tech ones.
