SIGMA TAU, SEL VISITING WORKERS
Yesterday morning a delegation from Sinistra Ecologia Libertà del Lazio, made up of Luigi Nieri, Group Leader in the Lazio Regional Council, Ileana Piazzoni, Regional Welfare Manager and Alba Rosa, Provincial Labor Manager, went to visit the workers of Sigma Tau in Pomezia fighting for the defense of their jobs and their rights. “We are facing a very complex and delicate dispute that affects hundreds of people and their families. Up to now, the intervention of the Lazio Region has proved to be totally inadequate. Recourse to layoffs was the only tool used by Polverini in an attempt to resolve territorial disputes. A strategy for relaunching the Lazio production sector continues to be totally lacking – declared Nieri – The story of Sigma Tau is emblematic of the conditions in which a significant part of the industrial sector of our country finds itself. In this case we're talking about a company that has no industrial plan, whose goal, by now, is exclusively that of laying off workers to reduce costs”.
"The Lazio Region must urge the Government to force the company to present an industrial plan focused on research, the only real solution for relaunching the company - added the councilor - There is still room to save the future of the company and its employees, but public institutions must do their part. A solicitation, this, also contained in a motion that we have already filed in the Regional Council and on which we expect the utmost attention ".
“Wagon Lits, Sigma Tau, Argol, Technicolor: there are more and more labor disputes that need answers and attention. In this regard, we have requested the convening of an extraordinary Council precisely on the issue of the employment emergency in Lazio. We look forward to an answer as soon as possible on this too. This would be an important signal from the regional institutions”, concluded Nieri.
