Late and differently from region to region. The diffusion of innovative drugs encounters many obstacles, erected by the massive Italian bureaucracy. To point the finger is the research center of Cerm, which has analyzed the delays, inefficiencies and inequalities at regional level in the adoption of innovative drugs by hospitals. The situation photographed shows a tangle of administrative procedures and supervisory authorities, which slow down the penetration of new medicines: the time required for a hospital or local health authority to use a new medicine is very long, almost 15 months after approval by the EMEA (European Medicines Agency)
