Novartis announces, from its headquarters in Siena, 24 layoffs for "reorganization of the commercial sector": 20 (out of a total of 27) pharmaceutical informants and 4 employees of the commercial network have been redundant. The company communicates that the revenue forecasts for traditional flu vaccines have not been met. From the human resources of Novartis Vaccines they declare that the restructuring has previous roots and is linked to the fact that the product promotion network has changed: "Before we went to present vaccines to pediatricians and general practitioners, today we are dealing with the local health authorities and with the Regions". For January 20, the CGIL, CISL and UIL have convened a workers' meeting.
