Number 22 of the weekly bulletin created to promptly monitor and describe the measles epidemic underway in our country since January 2017, edited by the Ministry of Health and 
Higher Institute of Health (ISS). The bulletin presented in the form of an infographic provides an overview of the distribution of cases reported to the Integrated Measles and Rubella Surveillance System, by Region, by age group and vaccination status.
Due to some problems related to the surveillance system, a correct epidemiological evaluation of the disease trend in real time is not possible. In fact, the cases that are added to the total every week are not only the cases that have actually arisen, but also the cases that, due to various factors, have been entered late, in the last week, but which refer to people who have experienced symptoms in the previous weeks.
These are the main data reported in the infographic n. 22, from 14 to 20 August 2017:
- 4.220 cases and 3 deaths since the beginning of the year
- 88% not vaccinated
- 7% vaccinated with just 1 dose
- 34% at least one complication
- 42% hospitalized
- 22% in the emergency room
- 283 cases among healthcare workers
- Median age 27 years old

ISS. To promptly monitor and describe the ongoing measles epidemic in our country since January 2017, the Ministry of Health and the Higher Institute of Health have started the production of a weekly infographic that provides an overview of the distribution of cases reported to the Integrated Measles and Rubella Surveillance System, by Region, by age group and vaccination status.
