Good results despite the crisis, according to data from Ims Health
(ANSA) - ROME, 04 SEPTEMBER - Despite the economic crisis, the pharmacy market remains stable, but above all thanks to the non-pharmaceutical sector. The first six months of 2014, compared to the same period of 2013, show a minimal fluctuation, both in terms of turnover (-0.2%) and in terms of sales volumes (+0.2%).
The latest data released by Ims Health, a multinational company that provides information, analysis and consultancy services, say so. The market for prescription drugs (band A and C) is down, with a decrease of 1.8%.
While over the counter drugs are growing: +7% in supplements and nutraceuticals, +2.7% in aids and devices, +1.6% in hygiene and beauty. "The pharmacy holds - comments Giorgio Cenciarelli, director supplier services Italy of Ims Health - because it manages to counterbalance the decline in ethics with the commercial area sectors, with the exception of Sop / Otc (over-the-counter drugs without prescription) which close with a slight contraction of 0.85%”.
Through all distribution channels (pharmacy, Local Health Authority and hospital), the number of pieces and value increases, as well as distribution by account, with a growth of 20.5%. In the same period, hospital and direct distribution grew by 7%. (ANSA).
