A euro invested in a drug yields 16 times, on drugs 2,500 times. For this reason, the mafias have decided to "invest" in illegal and counterfeit drugs. The commander of the Nas, Cosimo Piccinno explains it
“International mafias invest in illegal and counterfeit drugs. A euro invested in a drug yields 16 times, on drugs 2,500. The established turnover is 50 billion a year but some say it is equal to 200”. This was revealed by the general of the Carabinieri and commander of the Nas, Cosimo Piccinno, during the conference "Fight against doping, regulatory peculiarities and contract strategies: legal and operational aspects" at the CONI headquarters.
"The figure of the cyber pusher was born", said Piccinno, expressly speaking of "the mafia, n'drangheta, Japanese, Chinese, Russian mafia". “Online pharmacies are estimated at around 40 thousand – he explained – the purchase of medicines is anonymous, easy, and the prices are cheap, even reduced by 60%-70%. There is no control and there is a high risk of counterfeiting”. Piccinno underlined how out of “600 family doctors interviewed, 240 do not know that it is illegal to buy prescription drugs online. It is necessary to provide correct and widespread information on the subject”.
