Scientific information is under observation in Camerino
The conference was held on Friday 8 June at the University of Camerino "Scientific drug sales rep: a rapidly changing role" organized by the same university in the historic Hall of Coats of Arms.
The crowded appointment – over a hundred students, but also professors and insiders – saw the role of the medical informant at the center of the proceedings in the light of new and important changes that are affecting the profession. In recent years, in fact, the figure of the informant has been partially distorted by the need of pharmaceutical companies to contain costs, by the patent expiry of many blockbuster products, by the revision of the expenditure of the national health service, by new and more effective communication systems. It is undoubtedly a difficult moment for scientific information, a sector in which market conditions have led pharmaceutical companies not so much to a reduction in turnover but to a contraction in margins.
The first consequence was the introduction of a new business model and a new and revolutionary approach to communication with the medical profession. The rapporteurs agreed that the sharp contraction of information networks is also due to the fact that they were previously too numerous. But the question we were called upon to answer was about the future that lies ahead for new graduates in drug scientific information. That there will be, of course, but it will also be completely different from the past.
We at Merqurio have shown young students the new models of drug scientific information such as e-detailing, phone-detailing, CSO, topics that have attracted great interest and involvement from future graduates.
The Cav. Benanti of SIFI narrated the reality of a third generation family business in a substantially consolidated market, with ways of interacting with the doctor built over time.
Baxter's Stefano Reggio's report stimulated young people by presenting an initial picture of the complex reality of market access: certainly one of the fields of full development of the information profession in which particular skills of empathy and experience are required.
Daniele Recchi, Angelini's director of scientific information, involved the students by presenting the selection, training, measurement and control methods that this company implements for its network, making them understand the care and commitment that a successful company places in building and developing the skills of men in the field.
The Sifo with the delegate Massimo Fioretti, then explained their needs
