The multinationals that lay off will have to return public aid. Hard line of the Italian government towards GlaxoSmithKline which intends to close the research center in Verona. With regards to the UK pharmaceutical, the Minister of Labor Maurizio Sacconi declared: "We are committed to using all legitimate levers and, first of all, to calculate the give and take that these multinationals have with our country. We have not, nor will we be shy towards anyone when it comes to defending the legitimate national interest".
