"The political exponents have all shown that they are aware of the need to change the approach to the pharmaceutical industry sector. Which must no longer be considered an 'ATM', but a resource to be developed. However, we are waiting for the registered consensus to translate into concrete policies".
This was stated to Pharmakronos by Pierluigi Antonelli, president and managing director of Msd Italia, a subsidiary of the US Merck & Co., as well as vice president of Farmindustria and chairman of the Italian American Pharmaceutical Group (IAPG) which represents the American pharmaceutical companies active in Italy.
"Ours - he continues - must be considered to all intents and purposes an industrial sector that creates jobs, research and innovation. And not a cost. The consensus we received also on the occasion of our last conference organized at the Embassy is positive. American: all the political exponents who took part appeared to agree on the need for a change of approach.
This consensus must be followed by active actions for the development of the sector", he concludes.
