the European Parliament
MEPs from the Environment Committee yesterday voted on two bills to guarantee patients reliable information on medicines that require a doctor's prescription. The parliamentarians introduced an article obliging EU member states to ensure the availability of objective information on medicines sold on the territory. Each European country will have to create special websites where essential information on medicines that require a doctor's prescription is published. These data must also be available in paper format. And drug companies will also be called upon to publish more information about the drugs they make. The provisions voted yesterday in the environment commission will arrive in the plenary session in December. And they will have to be approved by member states to become European standards.
