Dla Piper wins for Pizeta Pharma in a corruption case
From Piper he witnessed victoriously Maurice Zampetti – then chairman of the board of directors of Pizeta Pharma – in the criminal proceedings against him, initiated on charges of corruption.
The Gup of the Court of Larino issued a sentence against Maurizio Zampetti of no place to proceed for not having committed the crime, and against a scientific informant of the company a sentence of no place to proceed because the fact does not constitute a crime.
A white collar crime team coordinated by the partner acted for Dla Piper Antonio Carino (in the photo on the left), assisted by his colleague Veronica Rossetti and by professionals in the life sciences, health & social care sectors.
The criminal proceedings arose from an investigation conducted by the Nas and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Larino which, following the outcome of the investigative investigations, had hypothesized the crime of corruption, which would have resulted in the improper involvement of a doctor in clinical studies launched by the company in exchange for travel abroad.
On the contrary, accepting the arguments of the defense which documented the correctness of the clinical studies and the promotional activity of the company, the Gup fully rejected the argument of the Public Prosecutor's Office which had requested the indictment of two doctors as well as the exponents of Pizeta Pharma (whose positions which also concern other charges relating to events unrelated to Pizeta Pharma, however, will be defined with abbreviated judgment).
