“The General States of Community Health are directed towards a discussion with professionals, institutions, territories, the scientific community and citizens, while the dialogue continues with the trade union representatives, to arrive at a shared project on tomorrow's healthcare, widespread and sustainable. They grow with a series of meetings distributed over the months of November and December 2022 and are oriented towards listening to the interlocutors involved. The results will be brought to the Legislative Assembly.” THE SIGN
The Emilia Romagna Region, led by President Stefano Bonaccini, questions himself about “What healthcare for the next few years” in a very particular moment, “nher belief that a quality system will remain such if it is capable of transforming itself and innovating, starting from the founding principles of universality and strong prevalence of the public.”
“This is where the idea of launching the States General of Health in Emilia-Romagna came from, a path that aims at dialogue with those who provide healthcare and live it day by day. With the professionals who work there: doctors, nurses, social and health workers, researchers and young specialists, technicians and administrators, pharmacies, conventional medicine, universities and the scientific community, of course territories and citizens. Again: together with the mayors, the representatives of the voluntary sector, those who work every day in the area to make the right to health practicable, up to the signatories of the Pact for Work and for the Climate. While, in parallel, the comparison continues with sector unions.
A working method that aims to arrive, at the end of the States General, at a shared project on what the new healthcare system should be like."
“An all-round comparison on how to innovate the healthcare organizational model, to guarantee new responses to new assistance and care needs, made even more evident after the pandemic.”
We need to deal, it must be said, with the progressive aging of the population, with a strong demand for health and therefore with the problem of waiting lists for specialist visits, medium-low intensity surgical interventions, adaptation and advancement of equipment technological.
It is necessary to address the crux of the emergency-urgency, which will need to be strengthened and reorganised. To face and solve the "major problem of the shortage of specialist doctors, particularly in the emergency-urgency sector, to which is added that of general practitioners and nursing staff".
On all this it is impossible not to ask a question about economic sustainability. The economic shock caused by the pandemic has seen the addition of the problem of high bills not covered by the state. So a theme of present and future sustainability.
The first round of consultations has started, the end of which is expected by Christmas. The results of the discussion will be brought to the regional legislative assembly and will guide the next steps.
The sign of the Emilia-Romagna Region
Editor's note - The absence of Pharmaceutical Representatives stands out among the health professionals involved in the consultation. We believe that the Fedaiisf informants, who have an open working table with the Emilia Romagna Region, must be there. If we talk about quality of care, and the word is said many times, we cannot overlook health professionals, still not formally recognized, who represent an essential link between clinicians and the pharmaceutical industry.
