As everyone knows, some medicinal plants and in particular the molecules contained in them which refer to the phytocomplex of the plant, have very promising abilities to contrast drug resistance to microorganisms and to contrast malignant cells that have acquired resistance to chemotherapy.
Unfortunately some northern European states, as I have denounced several times and will continue to do so, try to pass off medicinal plants and their molecules as toxic or at least completely ineffective. Unfortunately this not only by other states but also by some national figures, claiming that natural medicines do not have a real efficacy, a real function.
These completely absurd statements risk undermining important scientific research in the natural pharmaceutical field which can really be useful for man and not only to counteract the spread of drug resistance phenomena to antibiotics by microorganisms or drug resistance to chemotherapy by carcinogenic cells but also to eliminate research on potential natural insecticides such as neem, for example useful against insects potentially dangerous for agriculture such as the vector of xylella or dangerous for humans such as some species of mosquitoes which are carriers of serious parasitosis but could be easily counteracted using molecules derived from plants
Unfortunately a part of Science pretends not to see these properties. In fact, he tries to fight them. Today we know very well that, for example, aloe can be effective against some forms of cancer cells, in fact the molecules so accused of genotoxicity aloin and aloemodin could have an action to contrast the progression thanks to their potentially intercalating structure with our DNA of tumor cells going to block the mechanisms of cancer development as well as knowing the action of the molecules contained in the aloe of modulation of the immune system.
As far as microorganisms and drug resistance are concerned, there are essential oils capable of overcoming the drug resistance to antibiotics by some multi-resistant drug bacteria.
All this should lead the future government to incentive policies on natural pharmaceutical research, so as not to deprive an important scientific resource such as medicinal plants. As far as I am concerned as a Herbochemical Scientist, I will continue to dialogue with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agricultural Policies to bring my scientific knowledge and to continue my battle against those who want to destroy medicinal plants and this important resource for humanity.
