In March 2021, the seasonally adjusted industrial production index is estimated to decrease by 0.1% compared to February. On average in the first quarter, the level of production grew by 0.9% compared to the previous three months.
Corrected for calendar effects, in March 2021 the overall index increased in trend terms by +37.7% (there were 23 calendar working days against 22 in March 2020). Very high trend increases characterize all sectors: +58.1% for capital goods, +40.8% for intermediate goods and +28.1%i for consumer goods; the growth for energy is more contained (+6.9%).
All the main sectors of economic activity recorded increases on a trend basis, with the exception of extractive activities which remained unchanged. The largest increases concern the manufacture of means of transport (+102.1%), the manufacture of electrical equipment (+66.4%), metallurgy and manufacture of metal products (+59.7%), the other manufacturing industries (+ 56.6%), the manufacture of machinery (+52.4%) and the textile, clothing, leather and accessories industries (+51.0%).

Among non-food goods, positive trend changes are recorded for all product groups. The largest increases concern Games, toys, sports and camping (+110.7%) and Photo-optics and films, magnetic supports, musical instruments (109.2%), while for Pharmaceutical products, the minor growth is highlighted (+0.7%).
