The data detected by the Istat in contrast with the national average which in the last year recorded a 2.5% drop in industrial turnover in the various sectors. Orders from drug companies also did well (+3%).
28 MAR – In January, corrected for calendar effects (there were 20 working days against 21 in January 2014), the total turnover of Italian industry decreased in trend terms by 2.5%, with drops of 3.7% on the domestic market and 0.3% on the foreign market.
The seasonally adjusted turnover indices show a cyclical increase for intermediate goods (+0.3%), while they record negative changes for energy (-13.6%), capital goods (-2.2%) and consumption (-0.4%).
The raw turnover index drops, in trend terms, by 5.6%: the largest contribution to this decrease comes from the domestic energy component.
In terms of turnover, the most significant trend increase is recorded in the manufacture of means of transport (+10.1%), while the greatest decrease concerns the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-27.0%).
For total orders, there was a cyclical decrease of 3.6%, the synthesis of a 0.7% increase in domestic orders and a 9.0% drop in foreign orders.
In comparison with the month of January 2014, the raw index of orders shows a negative variation of 5.5%. The most significant increase was recorded for basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (+3.0%), while the greatest decline was observed in the manufacture of means of transport (-9.2%).
