The Official Gazette n. 61 of 14 March 2007 publishes the AIFA Resolution of 23 February 2007 "Amendments to the Resolution of 4 January 2007, containing: AIFA Notes 2006-2007 for the appropriate use of medicines". In particular, the text of Notes 4, 13, 65, 74 and 78 has been modified.
The Determination will enter into force on March 28, 2007. The changes made to the above Notes are as follows.
– Note 4: the sentence "The use of these drugs for the remaining authorized indications is reimbursed by the NHS." has been replaced with "The use of these drugs is not subject to a restrictive note and is charged to the NHS for the following remaining authorized indications: treatment of depression for duloxetine and epilepsy for gabapentin and pregabalin."
– Note 13: to pathologies requiring prescriptions paid by the NHS, identified by the sign "-", "hypertriglyceridemia not corrected by diet alone and other pharmacological measures" has been added. The note continues with the sentence marked by the bulleted list, already present in the original text, "in subjects with previous myocardial infarction (secondary prevention)".
– Note 65: in the paragraph "Available evidence" the initial sentence "Numerous studies have demonstrated the efficacy of IFN beta-1b in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis in which it is the treatment of first choice, and in part, in secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, in which MRI images show a reduction in the number of new lesions" is replaced with "Numerous studies have demonstrated the efficacy of IFN beta-1b and IFN beta-1a in relapsing multiple sclerosis nte-remitting. Furthermore, IFN beta-1b has also been shown to be effective in secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, in which MRI images show a reduction in the number of new lesions”.
– Note 74: the active ingredient "lutropin alfa" has been added to the list of "Drugs for female and male infertility".
– Note 78: the active substances “bimatropost + timolol”, “brimonidine + timolol” and “travoprost + timolol” have been added to the list of “Anti-glaucoma eye drops”.
On 15 March, AIFA published on the website www.agenziafarmaco.it the list of medicines and the relative reference prices in force from tomorrow 16 March 2007.
