Generic medicines are expensive for the Irish. Forced to pay the British three times as much. The 123% more than the Dutch. The 63% more than the Germans. The 55% overpriced compared to the Danes. The 26% more than the runner-up country, Spain. The ranking was published by a US study that examines 10 EU countries and their pharmaceutical market. Revealing how the public coffers of Verde Isola could save up to €70 million annually if the cost of medicines were to approach its European neighbours.
