The dispute against the dismissals of the pharmaceutical giant resumes next week with Prefect Pecoraro. The unions' accusations: “The letters were delivered with inhumane criteria. People with muscular dystrophy, cancer patients, spouses of the same family end up in layoffs; even an informant in a coma receives the letter and dies after two days”

They have been camping for days in front of the large gate of one of the last made in Italy pharmaceutical giants, taking off their laboratory aprons they put on chef's ones to guarantee a plate of pasta and a sandwich with frankfurters to all the colleagues who joined the garrison of protest, staring night and day, to howl their anger. The anger of those who have spent a lifetime on books, with the passion of those who consider work a mission; the anger of those who built their family on the certainty of a salary and now find themselves with nothing left.
Forgotten by the national media, or perhaps deliberately ignored, the workers of Sigma-Tau did not give up, reached on 18 January by a telegram announcing the beginning of a nightmare. The company, one of the most important Italian pharmaceutical groups with offices scattered all over the world, 2,441 employees and an annual turnover of 613 million euros, declares a state of crisis in the Italian offices and sends 569 workers to layoffs, including employees, scientific representatives, researchers. A move that effectively blocks the activity in the plant along the Via Pontina, in the industrial area of Pomezia, a mega-plant of 290,000 square meters, also the headquarters of the Avantgarde company. The letters were delivered without any criteria, say the unions who denounce inhumane treatment: people with muscular dystrophy, cancer patients, spouses of the same family end up in layoffs; even an informant in a coma receives the letter and dies after two days. A behavior that leaves those in this company dismayed, which has adopted its own Code of Ethics since 2002, who truly believed in it and still think it is impossible that this is really happening.
