The top drug sales reps in the United States? They are those of GlaxoSmithKline (Gsk), 'crowned' by overseas doctors through a survey carried out as every year by Sdi Health. The British group therefore moves from last year's third position to first. The American Pfizer ranked second and the compatriot Merck & Co. third, which respectively occupied the first and second positions in 2009. Sdi rated the quality of the sales force on a scale of one to seven, comparing it with the knowledge that doctors have of the individual companies' ISFs. GSK's average score was 5.71, up from 5.54 last year. In both 2010 and 2009, 97% of respondents said they were 'familiar' with GSK whistleblowers. The drugs most frequently compared by doctors and informants were the drug for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Advair (salmeterol and fluticasone), the heart drug Lovaza based on Omega 3 acids, and Avodart (dutasteride) for prostatic hyperplasia benign
