the Minister of Health, Giulia Grillo, has activated the procedures for the renewal of two fundamental bodies of Aifa (Italian Medicines Agency), both expiring on August 6th: the Technical-scientific commission and the Pricing and Reimbursement Committee.
With two separate letters sent to the Ministry of the Economy and to the Regions, an indication of the members due to them is requested. Each body is made up of 10 members: one designated by the Economy, four by the State-Regions Conference, while the Ministry of Health designates 3 members for each body, one of whom has the function of president. The general director of Aifa and the president of the ISS (Higher Institute of Health) are also members by right.
The non-legislative members of the Technical-Scientific Advisory Commission must have proven and documented technical-scientific competence of at least 5 years in the drug evaluation sector and can be renewed consecutively only once, those of the Pricing and Reimbursement Committee are chosen from among people with proven professionalism and experience of at least 5 years in the field of drug pricing methodology, health economics and drug-economics, as well as health organization and health law.
