Sanofi will cut around 900 jobs in France by 2015. This was announced by the French pharmaceutical group in a statement, thus confirming rumors that appeared yesterday in the French press. The group intends to carry out this job reduction "through incentives for voluntary redundancies" and announces that "no relocation" and "reduction in the number of industrial sites in France is envisaged". The project is part of the already announced program for the revision and rationalization of the research activities and the enhancement of the performance of Sanofi beyond the Alps.
"The function of the Toulouse site - continues the company - remains to be specified. During the summer, Sanofi identified potential stakeholders who could maintain the capacity of the scientific or technological site.
To further explore all options, a working group including Sanofi representatives, national and local authorities will be set up as soon as possible. His mission - concludes Sanofi - will be to find concrete solutions for the site in the coming months".
