Get vaccinated directly at the pharmacy, without the need to go to your doctor or clinic. It is the experimental project announced in France by the Minister of Health Marisol Touraine, with the aim of increasing vaccination coverage considered insufficient for some vaccines, especially pertussis in children and influenza in the elderly.
An idea not too appreciated by doctors. "One or more trials" will be put in place, the minister announced. The much-discussed health bill, which led to a tough tug-of-war between Marisol Touraine and various categories – doctors in particular – initially envisaged the qualification of pharmacists to carry out certain vaccinations, the list of which would be decided by decree.
A path contested by white coats. The decision to go through a trial therefore represents an outstretched hand to doctors. But the details of the project, which should start soon, have not yet been disclosed.
