For a rediscovered dignity of the doctor
Filippo Rings, president of the Order of Doctors of Bari. An announced victory, that of Rings, also considering the percentage of preferences – no less than 84.4% – received by the 106 presidents of the Order, gathered until yesterday in the National Electoral Council.
“Our mandate begins under the banner of participation and unity – declared Filippo Anelli after his appointment as president -. Participation and unity of purpose whose ultimate objective is the reconquest, for the doctor, of a dignity and a social and political role in the highest sense of the term, to guarantee the Profession and the constitutionally protected right to the protection of Health”.
Giovanni was appointed Vice President Lions, president of the Order of Venice, Secretary Roberto Monk (Siena), Treasurer Gianluigi D'Agostino, President of the Commission for the Register of Dentists of Turin.
“I would like to begin my task by remembering Luigi Conte, because together with him we had begun a process of renewal of the Fnomceo and unity of the profession – he said in his inaugural speech -. I would also like to thank Roberta Chersevani and Giuseppe Renzo, who have led Fnomceo and Cao in recent years, Maurizio Scassola and Sergio Bovenga who have played their role even in a difficult moment such as that following Luigi's untimely death. Thanks also to all of you, sure of your collaboration to live up to the responsibility granted to us by the National Council".
“Last but not least, I want to send a greeting to the Italian doctors: they too expect a lot from us. A thought for colleagues also involved in unsafe places, in emergency medical stations, in 118, in hospitals. It's them, it's all the doctors who, with their passion and their commitment, have allowed the National Health System to go ahead even in the difficult moments of the economic crisis. It is with them, with each of them, that we undertake to retrace the path of dignity and independence, a path that passes through the rediscovery of the sense of the relationship of trust with the patient, through the rediscovery of the founding values of our profession, through a reflection on the solicitations that emerge from the National Councils. One for all: the health inequalities in our country. There are areas where rights are less protected. Those born in Campania have a life expectancy five years lower than those born in Lombardy. Our Constitution requires instead that all citizens are equal, in any Region, in any Asl. A road that passes through the recovery of our identity as doctors. We are not 'health technicians', we have a political and social role which, in exercising this extraordinary profession, allows us to promote the right, declared fundamental by our Constitution, to the protection of health. Getting back on top won't be easy, but it will be exciting if it bears good fruit”.
Yesterday in the late evening the names of the members of the Board of Auditors were also disclosed: they are Ezio Casale, who was appointed President today, Francesco Alberti, Anna Maria Ferrari and Giovanni Pietro Ianniello (alternate). Also this morning, finally, Raffaele Iandolo he was elected president of the National Odontologists Register Commission.
“Thanking Rings for the trust – said Iandolo –, I must remember the very high responsibility we have on our shoulders, that of keeping faith with the lesson we had from a great Italian dentistry. On the one hand this scares us, on the other it stimulates us to give our best”.
The new Central Committee will remain in office until the end of 2020. The curriculum vitae of the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer are attached.
They enter the Central Committee, who will govern the next three years Phnomceo, John Lions (Venice, 1609), Robert Monk (Siena, 1522), Eugene Corcioni (Cosenza, 1499), Salvatore Beloved(Palermo, 1475 votes), Guido Marinoni (Bergamo, 1420), Guido Giustetto(Turin, 1404), Pierluigi Bartoletti (Vice-President Omceo Rome, 1398), Gianluigi Spathe (Como, 1393), Louis Soda (Secretary Omceo Naples, 1383), Fulvio Borromeans (Ancona, 1378), Cosimo Neapolitan (Teramo, 1365) and Emilio Montaldo (Secretary of the Omceo of Cagliari, 1315). The thirteen medical components – nine of which are 'new entry' compared to the previous team - they add to the four dentists already elected yesterday: Raffaele Iandolo, Gianluigi D'Agostino, Brunello Polyphron, Alexander Nisius. Here too, three out of four are 'new faces' on the Committee.
