From the meeting with Farmindustria on 8 April, the need to build a path of continuous discussion to manage the contingent emergency phase and define a uniform framework of rules on the resumption of scientific information activity and with it the maximum protection and safety measures for carrying out the direct activity, for the informants themselves, the doctors and the patients.
At that meeting we agreed to verify the pre-established objectives as soon as possible, therefore shortly, also in line with the request for a meeting from the General Secretariats, we will have the opportunity to meet again and it will also be an opportunity to take stock of the developments and general perspectives of the Pharmaceutical sector.
We greatly appreciated the positions expressed by the representatives of General Practitioners, also personally verified by our delegates in the area, who hope for a recovery of scientific information, which can return as soon as possible to a direct and personal comparison, which together with Farmindustria we defined as strategic and irreplaceable.
This must be done in complete safety through the implementation of the guidelines on scientific information, issued by the State-Regions Conference, which will be harmonized with the various company safety protocols, which all our RSUs together with the RLSSAs have contributed to drafting in every pharmaceutical company
The listening, training and information needs expressed by the majority of Doctors, which develop through a constant human relationship that creates empathy and trust, requires a broader and more accurate reflection of the role and means by which the professionalism of scientific representatives is expressed. This is why we believe that the remote technologies currently in use can help information but can never replace the human relationship.
Anyone who thinks that remote activity can easily replace this great value is making a big mistake. Telephone, email, videoconferences and information platforms are additional tools that need to be regulated even better, through respect for privacy, limiting the control of activities and avoiding useless registrations and profiling, which have nothing to do with the professional role of the on a different level the relationship is wrong relationship with doctors.
To prevent distortions of this kind from taking over, it will be necessary to follow this phase of epidemiological evolution with greater attention, clearly defining that, while aware of the need for a period of coexistence between traditional and remote information, the typical methods of Call Center are neither effective nor acceptable.
This particular period, which will see the reactivation of a diversified recovery of activities, will be regulated through company bargaining which, through good practices and enhancement of the best agreements, will be addressed at a national level.
The post-pandemic has generated a greater demand for attention to health which will have to be characterized by strong public investments in the National Health Service and Territorial Medicine, which today represents the real barrier to protect public health. However, greater coordination is needed on the methods for resuming activities at the regional level, where a plurality of rules and prohibitions still impose many restrictions. For this reason, today more than ever it is necessary to set up a control room at the national level of all the stakeholders (Ministry of Health, Regions, Farmindustria, Federfarma, Aifa) with the aim of governing and better addressing all the instances that ask for better healthcare and a more efficient service to the patient.
We are convinced that this period of difficulty can also outline opportunities for greater understanding of the importance represented by scientific information, capable of transmitting training courses, updates on drug innovation and explaining the new scientific frontiers of research and innovation which are the real professional value, which will help to get out of the stereotype that the local doctor only issues prescriptions and that informants are only sales agents of the pharmaceutical industry.
For this reason, Femca Cisl will continue to involve, listen and train its delegates, availing itself of the collaboration of experts and representatives of the various associations concerned, who will help us in the difficult task of accompanying the evolution and transformation of the world of scientific information.
