The provisions of the budget approved by the Council of Ministers risk affecting even the 50,000 employees of the Lombard drug companies. The alarm comes from Farmindustria according to which 1 job out of 5 is in danger: 10,000 in all. Of the total number of workers in the Italian pharmaceutical industry, almost half are employed in and around Milan; the 400 Lombard companies represent 44% of the national total. The President of Farmindustria, Sergio Dompé, who fears competition from China and India, hopes for the help of Governor Roberto Formigoni: "We hope not to be alone in a battle not only in defense of jobs, but also of drug safety".
