The Bersani decree "between capital shareholders, medical plethora and health protection is an explosive mixture at risk of explosion". To state it in a note is Mario Falconi, secretary general of the Fimmg (Italian Federation of family doctors), who is the spokesperson for the hope of the 'white coats' of not having to "get to practice, in a spirit of unity and harmony with all the trade union representatives and doctors' orders, harsh forms of protest and struggle” against the norms contained in the same Legislative Decree
“The method followed in drafting legislation on such delicate matters as the protection of citizens' health is also incomprehensible and even dangerous,” Falconi continues. Making the rules of law operational and only then starting a confrontation does not appear to us as the best way of doing politics in a democratic country. We positively evaluate some course corrections, including that of acknowledging an important role of professional associations in the truthfulness and transparency of the advertising message. But we are unable to digest, among others, the rule that facilitates the entry of capital shareholders into healthcare, without rules or limits, as the 'mission' that they will pursue will be mainly, if not exclusively, profit and not already health protection. This is even more serious especially in a country, like ours, in which already today many doctors, due to the plethora, are forced to operate with rates that are, to say the least, indecorous".
“Furthermore, it seems difficult to us – continues Falconi – to understand and imagine how fees can be parameterised, in healthcare, with the achievement of the objectives pursued. We are absolutely in agreement with what the president of Fnomceo said, Amedeo Bianco, believing with him that at the end of the certainly not exciting political page of the Bersani Decree, a rapid and incisive season of confrontation can and must be opened to restore true dignity to all Italian medical professionals and their professional orders, in the primary interest of health of citizens".
